MacronLeaks
Unknown: Unresolved; no claim is made.
A trove of emails and documents tied to a French presidential campaign appeared online just before the 2017 run-off. The question was whether it came from a Russian state group.
Confirmed
France's cybersecurity agency ANSSI said it could not attribute the leak to APT28, said it could even be the work of an isolated individual, and said earlier phishing in the campaign was more sophisticated.
Claimed, disputed or not established
Claims of Russian responsibility were made by others but were not supported by the French agency's public statement. The origin is not established in the sources opened.
Reported impact
A reminder that attribution varies case by case: the same period had formal attribution for the DNC leaks and none here.
