Twelve GRU officers indicted over the 2016 election hacks

Alleged: Reported or claimed; not established in the public record.

On 13 July 2018 twelve Russian intelligence officers were accused in an indictment from the Mueller investigation of trying to interfere in the 2016 US election, including a hack of the Democratic National Committee. The indictment says they worked for the GRU and released tens of thousands of documents under pseudonyms such as “Guccifer 2.0” and “DC Leaks”. The Senate Intelligence Committee released Volume 5 of its bipartisan Russia report on 18 August 2020.
