Dubai 2010: the killing of Mahmoud al-Mabhouh
Alleged: Reported or claimed; not established in the public record.
Hamas military leader Mahmoud al-Mabhouh was found dead in a Dubai hotel room in January 2010. Dubai police named 11 suspects holding valid European passports, later saying there were 26 suspects. Dubai’s police chief said he was “100 percent” sure Mossad was behind it.
Documented
Dubai’s police statements and the suspects’ passport details are reported by CNN. None of the suspects was arrested or charged.
Claimed, disputed or not established
Israel neither confirmed nor denied involvement, with its foreign minister saying only “media reports” linked Israel to the killing and that there was no reason to blame the Mossad rather than another service. The BBC reported that Israel said there was no proof. The attribution is Dubai’s claim.
