Killing of Kim Jong Nam at Kuala Lumpur airport
Alleged: Reported or claimed; not established in the public record.
Kim Jong Nam, the half-brother of North Korea’s leader, was attacked at Kuala Lumpur airport on 13 February 2017. Malaysian authorities identified the nerve agent VX on 24 February. On 27 February 2017 South Korean lawmakers said the country’s National Intelligence Service told them four North Korean suspects were spies from North Korea’s Ministry of State Security.
Documented
AP’s chronology records the VX finding. The murder charge against Siti Aisyah was dropped and Doan Thi Huong pleaded to a lesser charge in 2019.
Claimed, disputed or not established
The lawmakers also said the NIS told them Kim Jong Un directed a “state-organized terror”. That is South Korean intelligence passed on by lawmakers, not established in a court.
