Unit 8200 reservists’ refusal letter

Alleged: Reported or claimed; not established in the public record.

In September 2014 reservists who served in Unit 8200 addressed a letter to the Prime Minister, the Chief of Staff and the commander of the unit saying they refuse to take part in actions against Palestinians. The Guardian published the letter and counted 34 signers; JTA reported 43 reservists, including 10 officers. The IDF called it exploitation of military service to express a political position.

Documented

The letter text is published by the Guardian. JTA quotes the IDF promising “serious disciplinary action”.

Claimed, disputed or not established

The letter’s allegations about how intelligence is used are the signers’ claims and are not verified here. The signer count differs between the two outlets, so this page says “dozens”.
